Newbies.....
Hi everyone, We (my wife and I) are new to this forum, in fact we haven't even got an Eriba yet. We are however looking to buy one, and hopefully we can gain some advice from all you seasoned eriba owners.
We are at the moment selling our much loved autosleeper Duetto van, mainly due to ill health and accessibility. I have some disability problems mainly with my legs, which are now become a problem getting up and down into our van, I am also on the chunky side of the weighing scales :) we don't want to give up our traveling holidays just yet, and although I have towed a caravan I don't want to be towing anything to big, which has lead us to look at the Eriba's.
We have always loved the look of them, but having never seen one close up before it's difficult to get an idea of the space inside. We have gone by the internal measurements given online and recon that a Eriba Triton 420 GT would give us the same space as we currently have in our Autosleeper Duetto, failing that perhaps the Eriba Troll 540?
We would appreciate any help and advice from you guys, especially anyone with disabilities or being on the large side.
Thanks for any help.
Paul & Caz

Welcome Paul and Caz. You will recieve a warm welcome in here I am sure and also a lot of help and tips. We converted from a VW campervan to tugging and are very happy with it.

Hello and welcome to the forum. It's good to have your company.

We had a VW Devon camper, then a tent and for the last three years a 420GT which (obviously) is the best Eriba of them all (not that I'm at all biased!) I wish we'd been able to buy one years ago.

Please don't be afraid to ask questions, however daft they may seem, as we are all only too keen to help you make a smooth transition into Eriba ownership.

I'm sure that someone will be along soon to advise you re accessibility issues.

If Poole, Dorset is at all convenient for you, you could arrange to visit Automotive Leisure (AL) to look at the various models and try them for size (appointment necessary to view). That's what we did (and a lot of other Eribafolk members too) but as we are only 12 miles from them, it wasn't a problem.

Hi Paul,

we, for the last 3 years have toured all across Europe, sometimes for months at a time in a VW T5 campervan with a poptop and, even without disability issues, we now recognise the limitations of not only the space but the awkwardness of the environment. I absolutely LOVE my T5 to bits, but we bought a new Triton 420 GT to go with her (Valerie, my T5, my baby lol) and it truly is another world, with not much more floor space. Just the angle at which you have to stoop to enter the T5 can play havoc with one's back and beds are always a compromise. The ginormous double in the 420 is heaven and when the weather is good you can just leave it made up, saving on more backbreaking work putting all the bedding away and krancking the bed up to be able to drive anywhere.

We had never towed anything before, ever! I could never tow a huge white caravan but the Triton on the back of our T5 is a dream to tow, as I am sure it would be with a car. I can now negotiate it up our very awkward drive in reverse but in any case it is very light and my husband can push it on his own. On campsites people always volunteer to assist but you could just get a motor mover.

I never ever thought I could be a caravanner in a million years, but I now love our Triton. I personally couldn't handle anything bigger to be honest, and the extra 60cm length of the Troll wasn't worth it for us. If you like the idea of leaving the bed made up and still having the dinette at the front then consider the Troll. But if you have the dinette in the Triton you wont have the lovely big bed and there will be no room to cook. It really is about the extent to which you can compromise.

Take your time and enjoy looking :)

A big thank you to you all for the warm welcome, we appreciate all your advice, and yes we will probably head to Poole and the eriba dealer there to check out the range thou it is a bit of a trek from where we are (Anglesey). From what we have seen on the internet and the layout charts etc... We think that it's a toss up between a 420 Triton or a 540 Troll, we will certainly keep you up to date with how we get on, just waiting for our autosleeper to sell hopefully it's soon. One thing we have noticed with all the photos of Eriba's very few show them with people in them, it would be so helpful if they did! Lol. Thanks again to you all.

Hi Paul and Caz and welcome to the forum.
Just a bit of lateral thinking but if you've still got your campervan in early July, why not try and book yourselves into the camp site near Gloucester where we are holding our Eribafolk Rally.
There'll be a dozen or so Eribas there for you to have a look at and discuss. You'd be quite welcome.
Details are on this forum.
Regards
R and A

Thanks again for the great welcome. Yea if we still have our camper van it would be great to attend Gloucester meet, and if we don't have the camper van hopefully we will have an Eriba, so it will still be great to come along....
Cheers!

Welcome Paul & Caz,
Hope you find the Eriba you are looking for we have a Puck probably to small for what you are looking for. However once you put the Soplair Awning on it makes it really large living area. No toilet but can use porta but the big benefit is really easy to tow and manoeuvre. It is ideal for us just depends what you want but there is an Eriba for all so keep looking.

There are lots of people on here with fantastic advice,
Morphy

Well we've had a change of plan! Lol, we have decided not to get rid of our much loved 1995 Autosleeper Duetto, even though I am finding it a struggle sometimes, it is a great van with just 33,000 miles on the clock, and a lot of changes done to it to suit our needs, and we just can't bear to be selling it.
So our new plan is: we will still keep looking for the right Eriba for our needs and when we find the right one for us we will use our little Mitsubishi Pinin to tow it, this way we get best of both worlds as sometimes it may be best to use the Eriba and other time the Duetto. And if our daughter and family want to come we can tow the eriba on the Duetto.
So we will update you guys on how we get on.
Thanks again for your help and advice.
Paul & Caz.

Hi, just writing to say thank for the invite to come along to the Gloucester meet this weekend, we were hopping to make it and were looking forward to checking out the range of Eriba's. Unfortunately our daughter is moving house this weekend, and work commitments have thrown a spanner in our plans, but thanks for the invite, and hopefully catch up with you guys in the future.
Cheers,
Paul & Caz
