What detracts from Eriba Puck value over time?
in Anything Eriba-related Tue Mar 01, 2022 12:06 amby Brenda (deleted)
Hi Everyone! I’m purchasing a 1969 Eriba Puck this week. It’s in beautiful condition. As I move forward in personalizing it I want to make sure I don’t do anything in the interior that would decrease it’s value over the years. Any tips? I don’t have any specific changes that I feel I must make. Want to be informed before I consider any (for example if painting the cabinets would decrease it’s value I’d love to know that). Thanks so much!
Warmly-

Hi Brenda, to the Forum. Personally I wouldn’t worry too much about devaluing your Eriba. Just enjoy it and make it your own. We haven’t done much to our van to personalise but others have really gone to town, redecorating, recovering the cushions, removing toilets, you name it, it’s been done. It’s all down to personal taste. So long as the van remains structurally intact you can’t go wrong. This is however only my opinion. They are iconic little vans, someone will always love it whatever you do to it.

Welcome Brenda, I would not worry. There are very few folk who want to live in a time capsule. The key is doing things well. If your paint colour was not the taste of a buyer in years to come then they can change it easily if your preparation and application was correct. Fabrics and upholstery are also an easy swap and I'm guessing after over 50 years they are showing there age.
I'd concentrate first on the hidden stuff, getting the running gear and chassis 100%, then get some modern electrics in for power, lighting and fridge. One thing I would take care with is the floor. Firstly check it is solid, and then if you decide to recover it consider the weight. Vinyl floors can be heavy and your Puck will not have a large payload.
Enjoy your van and making it special to you and please show us some pictures along the way.

Thank you Colin! I should be picking it up this week-as long as we don’t get much snow here. Will be taking the Puck out west this coming fall to avoid winter going forward. I am super excited. Surprisingly it’s only had two owners and both took immaculate care of it. The floor is solid. Running gear and chassis are excellent and the fabric was updated, but I think I’ll start there and change it to my taste. Can’t wait to share photos and so glad this group is here! Your advice is appreciated!

Our Betty had acres of hideous, bilious, yellow curtains and nets. I got rid of them all but I've washed them and stored them so if future owner wants to put them back, they can.
