Thanks for accepting me into the forum. My wife and I recently acquired a 2007 Triton 420GT and are thoroughly enjoying it. This forum is an invaluable source of knowledge and will be a great help as we 'learn the ropes'. As complete newbies to caravanning there is much to learn!

Welcome Nic - we were all absolute newbies at one time..................................and many of us still make silly mistakes and forget from time to time!

Ask any questions however simple they may seem and someone will be willing to offer advice

Enjoy your 420 - a great van

The learning curve is very steep at first , but you'll be like an old pro before you know it. My advice would be, make a pre-departure check list. There must be one on here somewhere.

The learning curve is very steep at first , but you'll be like an old pro before you know it. My advice would be, make a pre-departure check list. There must be one on here somewhere. Here you are.

PRE-DEPARTURE CHECKLIST (v.4)

5. Wheel clamp removed and stowed?
6. Toilet and grey water tanks emptied?
7. Electrical hook up disconnected and cable stowed?
8. Table taken down and stowed?
9. Fridge door locked closed and set to 12v?
10. Fridge fans turned off?
11. Heater fan turned off?
12. Gas turned off?
13. Flue extension removed and stowed?
14. All windows closed, internal doors and lockers latched?
15. Roof lowered and all four clamps secured?
16. Towing hitch locked onto ball (green indicator showing)?
17. Caravan handbrake off?
18. Breakaway cable attached?
19. Jockey wheel raised and clamped?
20. Electrics connected and cable not able to trail on road?
21. Mover rollers wound fully off tyres?
22. Mover switched off, remote handset and key stowed?
23. Corner steadies wound up?
24. Step raised?
25. External lockers locked?
26. Van door locked?
27. Bikes securely fixed on rack and unable to move?
28. Indicators, brake lights, fog light etc. checked and working?

don’t worry about mistakes, we’ve all done it. Could probably fill the internet if we all listed them 🤣

Islay's lists are always useful but don't take up her suggestion that you'll be like an old pro before you know it
