Can anyone recommend an efficient way of removing the non setting sticky sealant? After repair bits of sealant are coming to the surface on various bits and is very difficult to remove
Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Michael, I've found it weeps and oozes out for many years. It is still doing it around the waste line of our 2017 van.
Dampen a rag with White Spirit, not Meths as it may dissolve the paint on dimpled vans, and give a good wipe. Use an old credit card to cut through the sealant and roll up like a ball of snot. Wipe area repeatedly with the clean spirit dampened rag, repeating as required. Do not be attempted to pull the sealant out. When you are happy give a good wash with soapy water and apply some car polish to bring the shine back on your paintwork.

A few weeks ago I did this on my van and whilst at it used a toothbrush and white spirit to clean the white rubber trim on the waist line. I then used a nail brush and soapy water. It has come up a treat.

Thanks Colin

I was contemplating putting up a post about best way to clean the white waistline rubber. I will give your fix a try in the next few days.

Cheers

Thanks Colin for a way to clean the white stripe. Been wondering for years how best to attack it without damaging paintwork.

Hi All
The "rubber" trim is coming away (unstuck) from around the wheel arch on my 2019 Troll. It seems to have been originally fixed in place with the same white, non-setting sealant as is used around the waistline seal (discussed above). Does anyone know the name of the non-setting product used or an equivalent as I'd like to re-affix the loose "rubber" trim

the rubber trim has white sealant inside it, remove mudguard by removing two screw at the bottom outside ends and lifting mudguard from two fixed brackets. then remove old rubber and replace with new rubber cut to required length,( bought mine from Jandi not longer in business) but you should be able to get from from a good dealer bought by the metre. the rubber requires a small bit of force to replace around the mudguard, the sticky white sealant the fits against the side of the van.
this will ooze out for a long time be patient and gently wipe it off. Don not forget to replace the screws in the bottom of the mudguard, total time less than an hour and quite easy to do.
