Hello from new Eribacar owner

Hello folks
I’ve just joined as I’ve recently inherited a 1989 Eribacar on a Renault Trafic.
It’s been stored for 11 years and unfortunately I don’t have any keys. Any ideas on where to buy replacements?

On a vehicle of that age there are unlikely to be any records in the Renault network. To be honest the easiest thing will be probably try and find a Traffic in a breakers yard and replace both door locks and the ignition. Habitation door may be different to the drivers door. One good thing is it won’t be coded.

Hi Xabia and welcome to the Forum . A great Eriba to own and there are many about and worth looking after.

As the Grafos said, are you missing ALL keys, ignition and Habitation keys?

Hi Xabia. The only thing I can suggest for the Renault Trafic is to contact a local Car Key Locksmith and have a chat with them.

Regarding the Eriba bit of your Camper, I give you some photos of a 1990 Eribacar taken from our Eribacar Gallery and also some photos of a 1989 Eriba Puck which I've taken from Tony Lloyd, Eriba Caravan Sales great website.

I'm sure you'll agree that the lock on your Eriba is the same as the locks on all the Eriba Touring range of that Era. Can I point you in the direction of a Facebook Group I belong to called Eriba Car Owners Club who may be able to help in your search.

For the habitation door key there is a guy on retrocaravanstuff.com and if you find his blog pages he tells you how to find the lock number then you can order a set of 2 keys from him

You could try posting on the independent Renault Owners forum. Someone might know of a local specialist.

https://www.renaultforums.co.uk

Or perhaps the UK Renault owners' club (cars from 1948)

https://renaultownersclub.com

Can Renault UK not help at all? They should have been digitised at that point and kept records of key codes, etc. or find a dealer who is still a Renault dealer after all these years (tricky, I'm sure - they had a tradition of small, local dealers, but most have gone now. Our local one lost their franchise about 5 years ago, but the ownership is still the same. And some of the mechanics (I know this because my mother-in-law has had a succession of Renaults and still has her current one serviced by them).

Wenn Sie hier auf Links zu eBay klicken und einen Kauf tätigen, kann dies dazu führen, dass diese Website eine Provision erhält.

There's a Trafic-based Eribacar for sale for spares on Ebay now - worth considering for the locks and keys?

cheers, Simon

You'll see it comes up as German Ebay (this forum is hosted by a German company) Copy and paste the above link into your browser and it will come up in UK Ebay...
