Reich vs ALKO Movers - One man’s view.

My first Troll 530 had a Reich Economy mover, manual engagement and a really simple and great performance mover.

My next was an Ocean Drive (530) and we fitted the Reich Easydrive Pro 2, the Dutch crew who fitted put their own bracket in, which gave a 210mm clearance. We were very unhappy with the build quality of the van, stuff falling to bits, screws popping out…I’m not a forgiving person, so quickly decided she had to go. The market happened to a bull, so we actually had a cash loss of around 500€. The mover was, as expected, super.

Now, with our Feeling 470, we have an AlKo mover. It is a very different beast to the two Reich movers. The engagement of the mover is not just controlled by the remote control, the actual driving onto the tyre is taken out of my hands - I just initiate it and wait patiently while it happens, ditto on disengaging.
More importantly, the movement is very much slower. I initially thought this to be a nuisance, being used to the brute force of the Reichs. However, my attitude changed when I realized that momentary, tiny, increments are possible. With me at 87 and my beloved at 77, we don’t/can’t do stuff like manually lifting the towhead onto the ball. Doing this mechanically with the mover used to be virtually impossible with a Reich, but now it is straightforward and simple. This is REALLY important for sprightly young vanners like us!
