We only do nightime wee wee's so we don't need to carry any lumberjacks.

Seriously just get on with it, at 61 I don't need educating

OK, let's get serious here

In 2008 we purchased a brand new Adria motorhome complete with an early production Thetty 250.

After about a year I noticed dampage around the top of the cassette and dribbling into the surrounding casing. As we were en vacance I called in at a nearby dealership for help. The fitter gave one look at the cassette, removed it, took a thin strip of white formica from the floor of the casing and placed it under the cassette when it was refitted. Problem solved.

Apparently the initial production of 250's were slightly loose and Thetford supplied several of the strips for each toilet. I thought they were gash off-cuts left behind from production. Luckily I'd not thrown them away.

So if yer bog leaks slide a thin piece of something under the cassette to move it so the mating surfaces of the cassette and toilet touch and seal.

In the same van we suddenly found the valve flap was waving about in the breeze. Apparently the control linkage has a hinge which is retained in place (or not) by a push-fit plastic wedge shaped 'bung'. Said 'bung' had worked loose and presumably been ejected with a previous cassette emptying. The Thetford service dealer decided belt and braces was the correct action and replaced the interference fit bung with a self tapping screw. What possessed Thetford to use such a potentially and actually daft fixing I've not been able to fathom.

From what I hear, much damage to cassettes e.g. magnets which control the full indicator falling off, are caused by uses too vigorously swishing the cassette after filling with fresh water to swill through. By all accounts you shouldn't shake the cassette but rather turn it gently end to end when rinsing with fresh water.

I think your right and I've seen it and heard it elsewhere to. I also think that the use of toilet paper can entangle the magnetic sender We don't use toilet paper we use FW & KW (I'll not elaborate but the W = wipe) we have a small plastic canister that takes it's own size disposable bags and when we have finished the W goes in there to be emptied along with other rubbish the next morning. We only do wee wee's so it's all clean and hygenic
