Washing seat cover

Our 4 year old grandson slept too well last night and has had a nighttime accident. Other grandson, The 2 year old shared his breakfast with the seat covers. So I would like to wash the covers ,
We have a 2002 van with the green/ grey upholstery . Can this be machine/hand washed? ( the upholstery, not the van - I leave that to himself! )
I'm sure many of you have had similar incidents and have 'sorted' the problem
Despite these hiccups we had a lovely time with the grandkids, they bedded down- very late - on the front dinette and waited a full 2 minutes in the morning before they asked for breakfast. We even got their bikes onto our bed area for the journey so they played Grand Prix mayhem round the shower block. Campers were tolerant so thanks to all

Hi Starbug, I've not had this problem BUT I can foresee just a few problems if you wash by hand or machine I would be tempted to do them all as I just know you will experience some fade if you do just one. I would be tempted to say cool wash and use a good detergent. I also suspect that puttingthe covers back on will generate some "blue air" so be warned! I have washed covers in our old van but not in the Eriba and can also advise that to get the covers fitted properly is quite difficult, perseverence is required

I hope that helps and you get a nice clean set of covers

We have a 1999 Troll and I washed the covers twice in the past (before reupholstering because we added memory foam). I didn't do the back seats that are stapled onto the base, but the rest had zips. They all went into the washing machine on a cool wash, and then the tumble dryer. After that it was a bit of a struggle to get them back on, but if you bend them in half they go back on OK. Everything fitted fine and they washed well. I don't know if your fabric is very different, but if they have zips, I imagine that they are intended to be washed no problem.

We've used '1001 Ultra Troubleshooter for Carpets and Upholstery' spray on our seats and cushions to remove the occasional food and drink stain. It really does the trick.

I wouldn't fancy removing the covers to wash them as getting them back on would be a major problem.

if you wash them put them on a wool wash you could use 303 fabric cleaner
put covers back on cushions slightly damp and leave to dry outside
someone passed this info on to me

there is the bissel option

Thanks to all for the helpful replies. Job done, covers ( all the front seats to make it uniform) hnow back on and drying in the air, not the sun. Looks good.
Washed on 30 wool wash with small amount of detergent. I stayed outside busying myself while the covers went back on , straight from the machine. Not too much of a hassle I'm told.
So here's too the next time we take the little ones away . Keeps you young they say!
