Some of you may remember that while touring France in June we had a problem with the car when the "carteur sous moteur" dropped down at the rear.
We found a suitably clean looking car repair garage near to the camp site (because it was Monday and the local VW Dealership was shut, they open all day Saturday?) and booked it in for the repair.
Before returning with the car at the appointed hour we phoned Red Pennant Insurance and they sanctioned the repair. The job took 30 minutes and the mechanic replaced the "trois boulons" that held the "carteur sous moteur" up and told us they were missing.
Anyway, we decided that rather than claim from Red Pennant the 35 Euros that the work cost, we would have a go at our local VW Dealership who had serviced the vehicle only 4000 miles previously.
Last week they came back to us with a profuse apology, a no excuse explanation and a cheque for £100. Result !
We were amazed and slightly taken aback but it saves us the worry of claiming on the insurance. Frankly, there are so many speed bumps on French roads nowadays it's hardly surprising if something drops off the bottom of the car but these 3 bolts could not have been tightened properly in the first place.
