Oil check now possible

The Ford C Max we have is a great car for what we want but like all modern cars the design can be frustrating. When I say design it's not just the look of things, it's how they work and can be operated.
I haven't been able to open the bonnet for weeks to check the oil levels and the washer bottle must be low, so I called the local Ford dealers and asked if they had a tip on how to unjam the bonnet catch. Hah hah no tips but they would charge £250 to sort it. I went to my usual garage who has done loads of work on my vehicles and booked it in. It's done now and £190, the car for a day and he loaned us a runabout.
When he showed me the contraption it's quite silly in terms of design. Too long to bore you with in here, but highly annoying.

If it's like ours, where you need the ignition key to open the lock behind the Ford badge, then it's a bl**dy nuisance.

Exactly mate and have you seen the gear it operates? The length of the connecting rod back to actual lock is about 15cm and the key is only going into a little bit of plastic which is the thing that busts, but they have to break it all to replace it and insert a key formation from the old one to suit your car keys.

you can retro fit a catch in car, from a older style scrap car,
the area gets a lot of crud, causing issues, some lube normally helps
