Changing the sink tap

tap.png - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)This forum highlights how practical so many of you are and as my husband does not really fit in that category (although he does have many other talents!) I wonder if anyone could advise on changing the kitchen sink tap. I have renewed the plastic pipe that attaches to the pump as it was black supposed to be clear) and completely put me off using it. That said I can only assume the tap is just as gopping! I was thinking of buying a new shiny stainless steel one as long as it is a tip and tilt one as in the picture or giving the old one a really good clean when I get it off. However I don't want to mess the whole thing up so are there any tips on removal/re-attachment or advice on if this is an easy job or better left to the professionals? Look forward to hearing from you!

there is normally a large nut holding the tap to the surface,
the nuts underneath, may have to remove water pipe and electric wires first.
although due to lack of room may need to remove sink
sometimes while holding the nut the tap can be turned slightly to help undo, really depends on whether there is a locating lug

Thanks for that but the words "removing the sink" have filled me with horror!! Maybe I should just do a continual loop of sucking up water containing soda crystals or some such thing until I feel its clean!!!!

I replaced my Puck tap 2 years ago which is just like your brown folding one, its not a big job and very straight forward, its just a bit fiddly as there is not a lot of room, I didn't need to take the sink out... . The one thing I do remember is cutting my hand on a sharp piece of metal from underneath tap hole in the steel sink where the plastic nut holds the tap.

Eriba Models do vary, just see if you can get your hand around the back to undo the nut holding the tap, once its loose hopefully you can pull it out with enough slack from the water pipe and wires.

When I go on holiday I like to pop my top!
