Cleaning bed/cushion covers

We had a light stain on one of the bed cushion covers I tried to sponge it but I now have a stain that's even bigger! It's now like a watermark but is very noticeable - well to me it is. No washing label on the covers. Can they be washed? If so, do they shrink? I won't do anything until we get home in September but, until then, it would make me feel better knowing that I can eventually get this mark off.

Not sure as far as washing goes but you might be able to turn it over so the stain points downwards and does not show?

We washed all our covers, even unstapled the ones on the rear benches, washed then on 40c, they came up like new, the van was 6 years old at the time we didn't realise how dull they had become then saw that the one just inside the door was looking grubby so washed it, it made the rest look so dingy we did the rest.

They can be washed but can dry tight! Best to wash it asap really, ideal would be to wash it and stretch it back on whilst away, but it could be worth doing all of them, you don't want one lighter than the rest!

We keep a fabric stain remover spray under the sink ('1001', I think) and have used it with complete success on red wine, coffee and sundry other stains on the upholstery. This is far better than having to remove the fabric, wash it and then re-fit it.

The secret is to use the product as soon as possible after the accident and to follow the instructions.

For 'local' marks I've used "OZKLEEN Carpet Power" spray cleaner, with good success ! Sometimes not easy to find, but usually available from 'Wilkinsons' :)

We took all our covers off and just washed them!!!!!!!!!! A bit naïve when I think back Anyway they came up like new and there was no shrinkage whatsoever. The covers were 12 years old. Chris
