Caravan Insurance and what's in the manufacturer's name.

When renewing this years insurance on the Hymer Sporting Style I came across this one with Lifesure whom I've insured my previous caravans with for the last decade or more but changed last year when they put up their renewal and would not shift to compete.
I said, "it's a Hymer caravan".
They said, "sorry we don't insure that manufacturer's caravans".
I said, "but you have before".
They said, "not now as they are to expensive to repair".
I then got talking to them about Hymer and their other ranges of caravans - Eriba.
They said, "only to happy to insure an Eriba".
I said, " Well that's great as all Hymer caravans are branded Eriba".
They said, "okay then we'll insure you".
Great price this year on new for old so signed up with Lifesure.

Funny old world?

David

It does seem strange, we had a similar scenario years ago with our Shogun, we were told it was an import! When I questioned it, I was told it was uninsureable in the UK I had to fax them the original UK brochure, price list, suppliers (Colt cars Cirencester, at that time) bill of sale etc, they insured it

So to add to the Eriba scenario what is the make?? Does it come down to who manufactures the caravan? (Even if it's done under license?) Or does it carry the Eriba name because of it's shape, iconic looks??

Just interested on others take on it, that's all,
