Gas confusion.

Our Little Puck came from the Netherlands with a greeny coloured 7.5 propane bottle connected to a 30mb reg via a 21.8 LH connector. What choices do folks make between the myriad range of gas bottles available....primarily for UK and France. Is there a deposit system covering that geographic area or are bottles no deposit now? What adapters do you carry... Gaslow list a dozen different adapters? I'm happy enough with the gas setup, just want to be prepared for when the bottle empties.

We just go the expensive route and carry 2 bottles of 907 Camping Gaz. Although refills are easily obtainable throughout Western Europe you have to pay the price, especially in the UK.
Once you've bought your gas filled bottle, then a free exchange system is in operation so you only pay for the contents. In France, Camping Gaz refills are obtainable from all major supermarkets. Calor Gas is not obtainable in mainland Europe.
We are not heavily dependent on gas however, as we always use hook up and currently all our cooking is done on an induction hob, a slow cooker or a halogen oven.

Propane for year round camping (red bottle) a 6kg bottle should last you
even touring in France.
A 3.6kg. Propane for UK and a changeover pigtail for 907 Butane cylinder,
should cope with UK and France
