So, an Eclipse (not total) at around 9:30am tomorrow? Plenty of good photos perhaps?
During the last one in 1999 (total) we were travelling north on the A1 motorway north of Paris. It was almost empty of traffic and what little there was stopped as soon as it started to get dark. A very strange sensation walking around on what is normally a very busy road.
Too much cloud however for any good photos.
That occasion was the only time we arrived at Calais and couldn't get on an earlier than booked ferry as many Brits near the ferry ports had travelled to Northern France to get a glimpse.

Our youngest daughter phoned Tuesday night to tell me about the Northern Lights. She is in her final year at Lancaster Uni where the "Aurora Watch" is based. Sadly we had thick fog.
Alarm set to make sure I'm up tomorrow (don't have to get up early so i don't) what's the betting we have cloud?

We, too, were in Northern France for the the 1999 eclipse. Travelled up from Provence to Normandy for the event. Set off to try and find an isolated place to view it and ended up on a motorway services at eclipse time. Doh! But turned out to be a memorable experience as folks flooded in the the service area. Cheers and applause at totality and felt much better as a shared event than if we'd found an isolated lane. Still gives me goosebumps to remember it.
Let's hope for clear skies on Friday.

We booked a week camping (tent) in St Just Cornwall in 1999 to be on the line of totality for the Eclipse. Drove down to Cape Cornwall in the morning only to have heavy cloud.
The atmosphere however was phenomenal, the sky went dark, the temperature dropped by about 5deg and the birds (seagulls who had been making quite a racket ) all went to roost. We could see out to sea normal daylight whilst we were in darkness.
Truly a remarkable experience

We were camping in Cornwall with the children. The camp site had organised games for all the families which were good fun, still have the medals! We all gathered on the football field for the eclipse, very strange but memorable. Have to agree it was all the better for being with other folk.

We were at Damage Barton, and enjoyed a cloudy but enjoyable eclipse, looking good here so far

Bright blue skies for us here today in southern Germany but didn't notice anything different. Wasn't it supposed to go dark or something?
