For the historic train enthusiasts, my local council at Bury Lancashire have announced proposals for the Burrs Caravan Club to be extended by an extra 20 hard standing pitches and 4 tent pitches.
The historic railway ELR which runs parallel to Burrs CC has also got plans to create a new passenger platform next to the site making exploring the area a doodle.
The council are very keen for the proposals to go through as they have already estimated that the Burrs Caravan club visitors contribute 5 million pounds a year to the local economy....

Burrs CC is 11 miles north of Manchester city centre.

It's a lovely site. We've stayed a few times when visiting family in the area. If you like trains it can't be beaten. A platform stop by the site would be great.

If you like the 1940s weekends Burrs CC is a great base..

Its only 2 miles away from my house, although I'm tempted to do a winter break there one year...
