My leg...........again
in Anything that's not Eriba-related. Tue Mar 24, 2015 2:32 pmby hampshireman (deleted)

At pre-op meeting this morning, with the date of April 15th already fixed we spent 3 hours in Winchester hospital while they did all the tests.
End of it all they have delayed my surgery until end of May because the blood thinning med I was prescribed after my stroke needs 6 months, something to do with anesthetic. To say the least I was very dissapointed and depressed.
It's because lack of comms between stroke clinic in Southampton and Orthopedic clinic in Winchester.
To cheer me up Carole took me to Aldi and I spent some money on a cordless drill and wine

It's all a pain. We took youngest to QMC at Nottingham today to see the consultant who did her knee op. The good news is the brace is off, just a matter of building muscles back up in her leg. The bad news is he wants to do the same op on the other knee. We now have to work out when, she is studying for her finals at the mo, graduation is early July. She then has to learn to drive as she has got a job (great news but down in the Cotswolds so a car is vital) and we don't know yet when the job starts. So the consultant said "When do you want me to operate?" The answer is she doesn't know.
Hope you get yours all sorted out soon, it's such a drag but thank goodness we have the NHS. When our daughter's knee dislocated in America she had to buy her own crutches from the local Walmart after she left the ER (hobbling).
Good luck and keep drinking the cheap wine, you know it's good for you.
Julie.

Aldi wine can be quite good, can't it. Lidl's too. We've been buying a Chilean Sauvignon and Merlot at Aldi for a year or so, and at about £4 a throw you can't really beat it.
Rotten luck about your op, Derek. It's a b****r when they don't talk to one another, the medics, isn't it? I've been experiencing the same sort of thing for the past couple of years, though at last the impasse seems to have been bypassed. And Julie, in spite of the not knowing, you're right, at least we have a proper health service, no matter how rickety it might be. Good luck to both families.
