Simplest idea sometimes the best motor mover cover!

Just had motor mover fit did not do much research maybe should have but hey ho there you go. Anyway it is the reich what they now call economy used to be called the jumbo I belief. Nothing at all wrong and works fantastic and a 5 year guarantee perfect. But when I picked up the troll I noticed all the workings are now open to the elements nothing wrong with that when it is just stood not moving. But when you are on the go I would imagine it would get a lot of spray and muck thrown at it. Also I had to have mud flaps removed were not happy with that either but they were in the way so had to go.

I racked my brains all night thinking of some sort of cover I could make to protect all the workings. I mean it must not be a problem because as said 5 year warranty given so this must be the norm. All sorts of elaborate designs went through my head Mrs R was talking to me all night but I was not listening trying to work out a solution or should I say cheap solution.

Then in a eureka moment I remembered cleaning out the garage yesterday and throwing away three pair of water proof trousers. I went straight to the bin to retrieve cutting a whole leg off a pair I slid it right over all the exposed workings and the overhang I got a small bungy and clipped it up tight. It will not slip off due to the bungy and it covers the whole of the roller and everything that would be in the line of spray. I now have three pairs of motor mover covers. the brilliant part of it all as well is that it takes seconds to slip off and put on. It is also a tight good fit and should last a fair while also. Hope this helps anyone else who has this type of mover.

Great Morph, thanks for that idea, was wondering the same myself when we got ours. Don't have any old pants like that around, but may carve the ones I have up.

Just a thought on the same lines, maybe a pair of waterproof walking gaiters could do the same job? They will have all the straps and toggles to secure them.

Yes that could work, I cut the pants leg right at the crotch on a slant if you will and this gives about 8 inch overlap hanging out off the roller. This then turned out better because I folded back and this gives a double layer over the part that will get the most hammer. Then as said secured with bungy the full length of the leg goes right up as far as it can possibly go to totally cover all the essential kit.

Hiya Hob my motor mover does not have the plastic cover it is completely open I looked at the one Aaron had made but it would not fit mine hence it was back to the drawing board. I will add a couple of photos maybe tomorrow weather permitting.

Look forward to a pic . If someone doesn't have said trousers then Aldi and lidl cycling stuff may be a cheap solution.

I used a tent peg bag to cover the Reich drives and if I'd attached them more securely they'd still be there instead of fluttering down the hard shoulder of the M40.
