just received this from the caravan club, and thought would pass info on
this is copy and pasted
We are aware that an email appearing to be from The Caravan Club with the subject 'Travel Order Confirmation 0300202959' has been circulated.
This email has NOT been sent by The Caravan Club, so please do not open it – instead delete it immediately. If you haven't received this email, you have no need to worry, but be aware, as this may happen again in the future.
Opening the attachment that came with it may have created a virus (or Trojan) on your computer which may attempt to 'phish' for your personal details.
For those of you that have opened the attachment, we advise that you run your anti-virus software. If you don’t currently have such software, we recommend that you download and run a free virus checker from www.malwarebytes.org
What's the difference between a scam/phishing email and a Caravan Club confirmation email?
All documents sent out by The Club are in a PDF (Acrobat) format and all confirmations will always be addressed to you by your name. Scam and phishing emails tend to be .doc attachments and have 'Dear Customer' or other similar generic greeting.
How to ensure you still receive important Club emails
Because of the nature and volume of the bogus messages, some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and mail software packages will move caravanclub.co.uk messages into spam or junk folders. Please check these folders if you are expecting a message or confirmation from us.
Once you are convinced that it is genuine, simply moving it into your inbox is usually enough to stop future emails from The Club being moved to your spam folder. However, we will be working with the ISPs to resolve this with them, too.
The Club has not been hacked or had its email or other servers compromised. Sadly the Club is also an innocent victim as we have no control over vindictive actions such as these. Please rest assured that any overseas travel bookings you have made with us are not affected.
We have posted similar information on our website in an effort to minimise the impact on members. Please refer to this if needed, but please can we ask that you do not phone Club offices, as we are having to deal with a high volume of calls generated by this issue. All the information you need is either contained in the above, or on the website, should this issue reoccur.
Kind regards,
The Caravan Club
