Hi newbie here.English living in France. I bought an Eriba Familia end of last year and love it. 1987 variety. just back from the gulf de morbihan had a long weekend at the 24 heure du mans and off to portugal in september so getting my moneys worth already. Didnt know a forum existed untill i started looking for the herzim trim that is suitably cracked and hardened on our van. So may as well start with a question where is the best place to buy it from__ when i google mr jandi I get all sorts of perverse sites__ and do they do kits for a whole caravan or do i have to measure it.

Oh and then there is the solar power issue but thats for later

thanks John

Hi John and welcome to Eribafolk. Thanks for introducing yourself. Where in France are you living?

Coincidentally, about ten Eribas from this forum were at the Gulf of Morbihan for the Eriba Euro Fest earlier this year. After that event Mrs Randa and I drove down to Portugal and Southern Spain (I've listed several nice Portuguese campsites in our Links section)..

Probably the reason you're having difficulty in finding Jandi is because they are officially known as http://www.eribacaravans.co.uk/

Regarding the herzim strip there's much discussion on here about it. If you type hermiz strip into the search engine above you'll be able to catch up with it all.

Where to get it? I'm not the best qualified to advise you only to say that another ex-pat now residing in deepest France, Bryn, has recently purchased some from this source:- http://www.amazon.co.uk/Caravan-Awning-I...m/dp/B00HURSREW

. We have just replaced the herzim strip on the waist rail and around the door. It looks so good that we have ordered more to do the rest of the van. We got ours from leisureshopdirect. Unfortunately there is only one way to work out how much you need and that is to measure your van. Jandi can supply white or red, we got ours elsewhere because we decided to be different and we have gone with blue. It's much easier to fit if you warm it with a hairdryer. Good luck.

We went with blue too, I did the waist and the bottom rail, round the door and gas locker, which leaves just the side locker left to do. We also tightened all the screw at the same time, I was surprised how loose some of them were, also removed the mudguards and found no mastic at all on the offside, fitted new grab handles [from Jandi and next day delivery] then put plenty of sikaflex in everything and fitted it all back together. I must say that the blue herzim does make it look nice as our 04 has a blue stripe in the paintwork so blends in nicely. we may do the top next, but that hasn't come loose yet. we got ours here

I found it difficult to obtain the bright red 2005(ish) onward waist strip and had to get it from AL.
