watching live tv around Europe

Hi

During June and July 2016, we'll be touring through Belgium, Germany, Italy and France in the Troll 530.

Without a decent WiFi connection, this means I'll miss most of the footy games during the European Championships

Assuming I won't be able to pick up BBC or ITV , what's the best way to watch live broadcasts from the local areas in these 4 countries?

Do I need an outside aerial?
Can I plug something directly into my laptop?
Will free to air channels be broadcasting the football in the above countries?

Any help much appreciated.

Satellite, UK size dish (unless you go too far South) + Free To Air Digi Box and TV and you'll be able to watch UK (free channels). Great amount of info if you Google "Satellite Tv in Caravans". I'm sure there are also ways via your Laptop using various types of 'dongle' etc - I'm sure other will be able to advise you on this !

Hi

A UK size dish is ok for the Benelux countries but will not work in southern France, mid or eastern Germany or Italy. The BBC and ITV are on the Astra 2G KU band spot beam with a very tight footprint over the UK. South of a line from Bordeaux to Lyon, in Germany and northern Italy you will probably need a 1m dish. South of Bologna, you require at least 1.2m if not bigger for Sky, the Beeb requires 2m plus. Also bear in mind that reception at the extremities is very dependent on the weather.

If you google Astra 2G footprint, you will see the problem.

If you wish to stream the BBC/ITV you will need a 4mb/s wifi connection in standard definition and a vpn as the BBC/ITV geo-lock their feeds.

Time to go to the bar me-thinks.
