Guidance for new members - using the 'Search' facility

I first posted this a year ago but in view of the recent large influx of new members and the original post having got lost in the depths of the forum, I thought it was worth airing it again:

Don't forget that if you have a query it's quite possible that someone has already asked for help with or for information about the same topic and been responded to in depth by our members.

So, to avoid unnecessary duplication, please click on the 'Search' button at the top of the page, type a key word in the box and click on the magnifying glass for a list of all archived posts that include your search term.

You can always resurrect a thread if you require additional information or start a new one if you don't find what you are looking for.

I'm resurrecting this thread for the benefit of new members who may be unaware that they can easily search the thousands of existing posts on the forum for answers to their queries.

The chances are that your problem has previously been discussed but if after carrying out a search you still need advice or assistance then please start a new thread and we'll do our best to help you.
