Bio Pods

bio pods for those not aware what these are, are for washing clothes and can be found for £2 to £3 in the washing products isle in supermarkets
the pods are a gel in a plastic surround that melts in contact with water

on the caravan club forum there is a rather large discussion and all compliments must go to the person who thought of it, (not me) about using 1 bio pod in the waste container of the on board loo, emptying every 3 days.

was interested whether they would work to clean the container, and they would do what was suggested.
the suggestion is the solid waste tends to cause issue when emptying the container, the bio pods break down the solids rattle to a quiet liquid making the emptying easier, while its working on the contents it also cleans the container, giving off a better perfume than the recommended blue or green stuff

of course being bio, harm can happen to fish and aquatic life so you need to be aware of disposing before adding the pod..

we tried some of the Tesco bio pods (in green packaging), added one to loo waste container then added some warm water out of kettle to help melt the plastic around the gel of the pod perhaps cold water works to melt

the results are:
the loo waste container although not completely clean (it takes many uses apparently) has refreshed, and the aroma of loo is better in use

am not sure whether to recommend or not as the environment may be worse off than using the green stuff, in the long run
but price wise and the way it digests the contents are a plus if using a caravan or portable loo for all needs on a budget

thought would mention. in case anyone else wanted to try the experiment, or has run out of toilet chemical.
