Hello everyone. I'm so very sad to have to say that on Friday we said goodbye to our beloved German Shepherd. As some of you will know from a past meet, Zara would always make her presence felt and now the house is soooo empty without this big soft girl. Although she only lived for 5 short years she travelled up and down the country with Mark and me and our Dalmatian and enjoyed life as much as her hip dysplacia would let her. Zara would often give the impression of being the tough guard dog but the reality was a big softie who loved nothing better than having big hugs from mum and dad and playing with our grandkids. Our lives are going to be so empty without Zara but as she was always by our side I feel Sure she will never be too far away. A very sad Ellen.

Oh dear Ellen and Mark. We are so sorry to hear the news about Zara. She was such a beautiful looking dog and although you worried that she was a bit naughty at the Gloucester meet she made friends with many Eribafolk there, especially Agger. She wasn't sure about me though, wise girl.

Sorry to hear such sad news, always a very difficult time when you grieve for a pet. Thoughts with you, it's the most horrid thing you have to do in pet ownership but also the kindest most heart wrenching. What a wonderful pic of her.

Oh I am so sorry to hear about your loss. It's terrible when there is no one to run and meet you at the door. But enjoy the happy memories she gave you. Am thinking of you as I have been there many times

Ellen, I know that this is a very difficult time for you.We have also been there many times and it does not get any easier.Dogs are more than pets and are a big part of our lives. There is a very appropriate poem on the "Druimmuir Gundogs website.

Thank you for all your kind replies, no matter how many times. we say goodbye to one of our doggie pals it never gets any easier does it. We have a 10yr old Dalmatian called lettie and Zara treated her like her mum. Over the past 18 months as Zaras condition worsened poor lettie had to take a backseat a lot of the time so now we need to focus on her. Today our son and his family came round with their Dalmatian pup who is so full of it that the house was in chaos, we loved it. They cheered us up no end but lettie was glad of the peace when the young one went home. Thanks again everyone.
