Reducing Black Streaking

This is an old tip which I cannot take any credit for, however some of the newer Eriba owners will not be aware of it
This simple tip will reduce those black rain water streaks down the side of the van from the gutters. Place an electricians zip tie in the holes in each corner of the gutters, the rain water will then track down the zip tie and away from the van.....
When I go on holiday I like to pop my top!
Poptop320 recently posted a tip which, as a result of the section in which this tip was posted, most don't have access to and as a result cannot add comment to so I'll make comment here. (Now moved - thanks for bringing this to my attention. Aaron Calder)
I've tried this cable tie business but not with any significant results due to the waistline of the van protruding a long way distant from the line of the rain gutter when viewed vertically. I then attempted to obtain extra length cable ties but found these to be far to wide to fit through the opening in the rain gutter so once again a negative result.
Has anyone actually put into effect this cable tie business and had success?

Yes. I sourced a narrow but long cable tie from a car accessory store. I think it is the sort sold to secure decorative wheel cover trims.
It fits through the gutter holes and protrudes far enough to direct the water stream far enough from the van body.
In the absence of suitable cable ties a piece of wire or even string pulled through and away from the body will have the same effect.

Good point Colin 'cos even the wind could make them scratch the paintwork and I certainly would not travel with them in place.

ps. Isn't it amazing that the addition of a drain pipe can make the water run uphill?
