Hi Guys,

Well, after mulling it over, visiting AL and trying out the various layouts we have put a deposit down on a Puck L 230GT. Our main considerations were comfort, facilities and overall size, length/width/and particularly height. We have a property in Spain which has a shared underground car park with a limited access height so the Puck should fit nicely. We'll be picking her up in the next few weeks so we'll have a couple of shakedown trips before the big one to Spain in July and August.

We have just sold our Burstner Belcanto so a big problem now is explaining to SWMBO that she can't put everything from the Burstner into the Puck! (even though it's like the Tardis inside)

Btw,bit of advice on gas please, from my Burstner I have two full 7Kg Calor Butane bottles with the correct regulator connector. In the van info sheet, 6Kg Propane and/or 4.5Kg Butane Dumpy bottle are specified so obviously either gas will work (I'm aware of the differences in the two gases). I've checked on the Calor website and the 6Kg Propane bottle is exactly the same size (and weight + - 2Kg) as the Butane 7Kg bottle. So is this just a lack of awareness of the 7Kg Butane bottle or is there something more to this? Would be nice to avoid the expense of swapping out two full bottles of Butane! Nose weight isn't a problem as we can go to 150Kg on the tow car.

Chris

Hello Chris and welcome to Eribafolk.

Regarding your gas bottle question I think it best if we wait for another new member, Dave (Goggleboxer), to login as he is the expert:-

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the kind welcome.

Re the gas, it seems that the reason the dealer doesn't recommend the 7 kg butane bottle is because the fitting to the bottle is a clip on type rather than the screw in Propane type which they don't consider to be as secure, but the bottle will fit. As the clip on fitting I have is specifically designed, by Truma, for caravans, I don't see a problem and I normally disconnect from the bottle before travelling anyway. I shall swap out for propane as I empty the bottles as I want to do some winter trips, my local calor agent is prepared to swap butane for propane bottles so no cost implications there!

Chris
