Erwin Hymer Museum

With the weather not being too clever yesterday we decided to spend a few hours at the Erwin Hymer Museum which is an easy 160km run down the Motorway from us. http://www.erwin-hymer-museum.de/en.html
Not a Touring model to be found anywhere but there was the odd Puck and a 1957 Troll Prototype - the first of it's type to be manufactured by Hymer. Other than that though, the museum is well worth a visit for anyone passing close by enroute elsewhere as there are some beautiful examples of caravans of an age gone by. I was left with the distinctive impression that whilst the materials used were a lot more solid - hence heavier - than used today, there was a lot more attention to detail given in the construction and it was clearly evident that the factory workers were proud of what they were manufacturing and that things were produced to last.
I'll leave you with a few images of the literally dozens I took yesterday which include:-
1958 Eriba Puck Luxus
1957 Eriba Troll Prototype
1956 Volkswagen T1
1947 Hirth Tramp
1956 Westfalia Camping 2
Last but not least - a 1932 Car Cruiser Caravan built by an Englishman by the name of C. Fleming-Williams who, in 1933 and over the course of 21 days, pulled this caravan from his home in London to Marseille, Tunis, Cairo and back.

Oh, and I should have added this lovely picture described as members of the English Caravan Club before their horse-drawn caravan 1914
