After watching the Martin Lewis show last night I realised that I could transfer some of my married tax allowance to my hubby.so this morning I rang the tax office. they asked for a few details and hey presto, job done and backdated from April 5th. It's not a lot of saving £212.00 pa. But every little helps doesn't it. Thought I would share this as there could be someone else who is also unaware of this.

Also made the claim a month or so ago, very easy to do. Just follow the steps on the HMRC website. Martin Lewis said you only have 2 months to make the claim implying that it cannot be retrospectively claimed - that is if your into tax year 2016/2017 you can't claim for 2015/2016 - I may be wrong This is a new allowance introduced this tax year. So give yourself up to £20 per month pension rise to spend on your loved one - the Eriba!!

Somebody mentioned it to me last year and I registered. Took ages before they got the scheme up and running but from last April Neil has had the benefit of my tax allowance (part of it). As I don't work at all it would be good if he could have all my allowance but HMRC aren't that generous.
