Wasn't Patrick a Welshman? Dives for cover Banwen, on the Roman Road of Sarn Helen is one of the many places that lays claim to his birth.

Here's his stone at Banwen, just a few miles away from where we live. Stone.jpg - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)

Local Legend has it that this was the birthplace of Magnus Sucatus Patricius. better known to us as St Patrick.

In a confession just before his death he says of himself :-

"I was plucked a stone out of the bog I Patrick, a sinner, a most simple countryman, the least of all the faithful and the most contemptible to many had for my father the Deacon, Calpurnius, son of the late Potitus, a Priest of the settlement (Vicus) Bannavem Taburniae, he had a small villa nearby where I was taken captive. I was about sixteen years of age".
