Old Desk Diaries

I have 20 years of them, nearly all A4 size from my business working days and need to dispose of them. There is a lot of telephone info with names and I am not sure the local council dump is the right place.

Ideally they want incinerating, but trying to find a company that does this at a reasonable cost is proving impossible like £60 minimum. The dump can't help in terms of recommending somewhere.

A standard garden inicinerator won't do it I reckon as I made up a garden burner out of a wire box and tried but it will take ages to break them down from hard back covers and then trying to burn a pile of paper is not easy or quick especially having to seperate the sheets down.

Any ideas/places you can suggest please, or something I can beg borrow or steal to do the joib.............or..am I being paranoid about the dumping risk?

Cut the covers off with a Stanley knife and chuck the pages in the incinerator up the garden. Give it a wiggle round with a stick every now and then and Bob's your uncle. It'll keep you warm even if you do end up smelling like a kipper.

If it was forty years ago I would have said cut them up in squares put them on a string and hang them up in the out house....

What about finding a big Post Modernist Art Exhibition, sneaking in and creating an installation out of them? Perhaps someone might pay you a lot of money for it. You could call the work "Diarya"......................
