This is our Troll with her summer bonnet last August. Lovely day but rather draughty there in Cambridge. I've pursued this before but wonder if anyone has any new ideas. I'd like to find a side panel, or two. Trouble is, as as we know, the caravanstore side panel has a sharply angled top and because of the Eriba awning rail height (and the need to stand up inside, open the door, etc.) the canopy has to be angled more or less at right angles to the van. I'm not very good at DIY and am reluctant to pay for a new panel and then chop it about (the Frantones said they did that but it wasn't very successful). So help required, please, and pictures too if possible.

Hi both. Having tried and failed to successfully attach an additional side wall to any of our canopies without worrying about a gust of wind taking it all away, we resorted to a good old fashioned windbreak.

Having seen the Frantone's smart looking number g25p1375-Isabella-windbreak.html#viewport we set about making one based on the ones sold by this company. http://www.cornishwindbreaks.co.uk/#/windbreaks/4566817226

We must admit that it has been very successful. The beauty of these types of windbreak is that they don't have any guy ropes to trip over.

Also they can be moved around easily and because they are independent of the canopy there is less fear of heavy wind taking them both away. OK, it still leaves you with a gap at head level but if you choose the 4' high fabric it'll shelter you from the worst of it.

Thanks for the reply. See your point about having the independent structure, especially with no guy ropes.

You couldlook at these for sides, (which is what I shall do in due course) I saw them at the NEC and a friend of mine has some for his motorhome. They do really work well and are very light, I couldn't believe how they blocked out the wind. The owners are very inventicve so they told me to send pictures and reference and they could come up with a solution to make one fit to my sunshade.

Thank you. That may be an answer. I will have a good look through their website in due course.

It depends how wind/water proof you want it. I made mine with a printed panel attached to some external fabric which is attached to the "roof" with velcro. Itt's designed to provide a little more privacy/sunshade. It's not designed to be wind/rain proof. I'd put up the big awning if the weather was so bad that the sunshade couldn't copeIMG_20160326_171359.jpg - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)

We had side panels and a front built specifically for our Isobella....they are excellent.
