FITTING A LEISURE BATTERY TO A EUROPEAN VAN QUESTION

Hi Folks.
I have recently fitted a leisure battery to my Eriba Pan Familia year 2000. I have managed all the wiring from the grey 7 pin socket to the towbar electrics and also the wiring to the battery with new battery posts connectors - under the front seating but do not know how to connect to the fuse box to the existing wiring for the lights and water pump. I know that this 12 volt system will not work the fridge. A friend has said to merge the 12 volt and 230 volt together to the fuse box I will need a 5 way relay / diode so that the two systems don't collide. Another friend who has a little electrical knowledge says I need a 3 way rocker switch. Meaning position 1 for 230 volt. Middle Position 2 for 12 volt battery charging from car. Position 3 for 12 volt battery.

Can anyone else give me anymore information regarding the simplest way to connect the 12 volt and 230 volts to the fuse box using the existing wiring?

Many thanks.

Johnny G

If I were you I'd engage the services of a qualified caravan electrician. That way you'll be reassured that everything is safe.
