Hi all,
I was just looking at Baldricks Eriba photos, (very nice) and being new to all of this, they were big help in layout etc, and I noticed that he has a large electric fry pan, something that we never considered until now but thats about to change.

So, based on your experience, do you have a preference, size, wattage, etc and having put it to use, would you now prefer it with or without a handle? Also, has anyone got or used a portable induction hob? and would you recommend buying one?.

regards

barny

Hands up to an induction hob, we have 2 and use them all the time, they're as quick and responsive as gas but a lot cleaner and cooler to the touch,
you do need compatible pans i.e. a ferrous or magnetic base.

Seconded!
The induction hob is great. Ours has 5 selectable power levels, temperature control and timer. Unlike the electric hotplate, which had a crude thermostat switching on and off, the hob seems to control the temperature much more evenly. It also gets up to temperature quickly.
Many aluminium pans now come with a ferrous insert to allow use on induction hobs.

+ 1 for the induction hob (s) - super bit of kit - pans suitable are not that expensive, some good camping ones available !

As Frantone said !

The large electric frying pan is a Remoska, I think. Don't own one but lots of posts on here about them if you use the search function.

Thanks all. I opted for the cheaper Tower unit £29 ex Amazon and will probably go for the Tefal hob too.

WE ordered from Amazon Friday afternoon and it was delivered by 10 am Saturday normal delivery, so 5 stars for that. As for the unit, the thermostat must have been faulty, and the food was so dry that we didn't touch it. Also, the lid knob is too small to get a firm grip and the bezel underneath gets very hot.

Bottom line, being returned, and I guess you get what you pay for. Now asking forum recommended size of Remoska.

No, It's the electric frying pan with ceramic cook surface. £25 from Asda I believe, if they are nearby.
