B.I.P mains 12v transformer question.

Hi All. Just bought a '97 triton 420 and I'm trying to work out exactly what the heck is going on with the electrics.

bigmac_2016Jul14_184205.jpg - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)

this is fitted under the sink and when connected to 240 volts everything works. . . . .kind of.

I was trying to find out what was connected to what but a multimeter shows 0 volts on the lighting circuit even though the lights work!

The instructions I have are in Spanish for a French unit which is helpful not.

So does anyone have a wiring diagram or instructions in english?
Does this unit have a battery charger for a leisure battery?
Does it only power the fridge on 12V when plugged into the car?

Probably going to rip it out and put a new system in anyway but I thought I'd check first.

Looks like an empty box!
Seems to be something like a Joby Gorillapod inside it?

Yes and only when the engine is at 1000rpm+ if its correctly wired

looks a mess to me

If your using an analogue volt meter - you should bear in mind that the DC Pos and Negative on most Eribas are not coloured the conventional way and are:
+ve BLUE -VE BROWN !
Of course on a digital voltmeter it would show a -ve voltage if checked with the normal polarity connection to the meter :)

The big hole in the picture you posted should have 12v fuses in it.

Thanks for the replies. Gorillapod holding it up for the camera, yes it is only the front plate the rest is still in the van, no problem with working out the polarity I have been rewiring cars, bikes and boats for 30 years and one of my hobbies is building electric vehicles. I just wanted to know if it has the facility to charge a leisure battery and why I was getting 0 volts but the lights still worked!

I'm going to put in a new consumer unit, battery charger and fuse box. Not bothered about running the fridge from the car but I do want to be able to use a huge solar panel for green field camping.

Some of the 12v circuits on Eribas are ac not dc. If your multimeter is set to read dc volts it will read 0 at 12v ac. Try your meter on an ac setting.
On my 2009 Familia, only the water pumps circuit works on dc via a rectifier. The rest come straight off the transformer as ac.
