Door Mounted Dustbin Question

Hello,

I was either looking to buy the official door bin or a much cheaper alternative. My door has the following studs attached with shock cord around them.

How does the official bin attach here? I did not want to simply try to pull these fixings from the door in case I damaged something,

In the end I used the shock cord to mount the bin. It's not too secure and because of the thickness of the cord it can easily pop off the studs. It would be better with thinner (white) cord I think and some sort of fixing. With thinner cord I could at least loop it around the studs a couple of times.

Does anyone have any knowledge here about the studs, or how the official bin connects, or how I could secure it with home made shock cord and fixings?

Thanks.

The 'official' bin has 4 keyhole openings that match the studs.

It would be dead easy to modify a cheap bin to fit by cutting suitable holes as per your illustration, Tony.

I bet the genuine article doesn't come cheap.

Thank you both.
You are correct, the genuine bin is not cheap. Also it protrudes further into the caravan than this cheaper one I found. (I have the 310 with the small front dinette and often sit with my legs parallel to the door so wanted a more slimline bin).

I'm not Mr DIY, but I guess if I went carefully with a drill and a couple of cutting tools I should be able to fashion something?
Or is there a template available somewhere showing the location of the holes?

Thanks.

I'd make a template out of cardboard before I started cutting the bin, Philip, and then use a circular file to open out the holes to the correct size.

Alternatively, someone on here might be so kind as to do a paper pattern from their bin and send it to you.

Any takers?
