Just bought a Mifi thingy for hols in france next month and use at non wifi or expensively priced wifi sites in UK. I guess it is best to buy a French data sim for France. Any recommendations on which to buy please

Hi, when we were in France last year we bought a data sim from Orange.
We went to an Orange-shop (in France) and an employee of the shop activated it for us.
We stayed in different parts of France and it worked fine during our whole vacation.

I'm currently sat on the Richmond CC site using mifi from EE. You can get a 6gb sim which lasts for three months from quite a few sellers on eBay for around £15. It will connect to 4g, where possible. If you are using it with a laptop (especially Windows) I would recommend turning off the automatic updates whilst away so it does not eat up your allowance too rapidly.

Not an answer to your question I'm afraid but it may be of some use to others, most phones can be turned into mobile hotspots by a simple change in the settings.
I had looked into getting a MIFI/Data SIM but it worked out cheaper to upgrade my 4g phone SIM from £10 a month to £12.50 which increased the data from 1GB a month to 3GB.

+1 for Orange in France.

Bouygues also usually have decent offers.
