Daughter's wedding

Many of you who were at the Meet near Corby were very kind in wishing us luck for the Wedding last Friday.

It is difficult to wipe the smiles from our faces at present. It went so well. Almost too hot weather, everything to plan, the groom turned up.

The civil service in the Guildhall was really good and surprised me in the way they handled it with humour as well as doing the necessary.

The bride was very late due to a traffic incident in the one way system, compounding an already underground electrical fire at the very last major junction 200 yerds from the Guildhall. The police and firebrigade has just opened the road minutes before we got there. Saturday evening the Leccie companies were still working there. She and I sat back reasonably relaxed in a pale blue 75 Chevvy BellAir.

We all walked back to the Royal Winchester Hotel, through the market in the centre city and then waited for the happy couple to do all the photos etc. So all guests relaxed in the beautiful hotel garden. That hotel is well recommended by the way, it is a gem in every way.

Reception for 65 guests was smashing. I made the opening speech and stayed off the booze until aftewards, not easy with everyone trying to buy me something. I took my sketch gear thinking I would be not wanted until daughter and I left the hotel to go to Guildall. But no, was sent on a mission, to but some pens at WH Smith, get her and darling G/Daughter some M&S sandwiches....AND...while I was in there get her some knickers!!!!!!! Long story but it gave me a perfect story to add in my speech which got a great laugh and thoroughly embarrassed her.

Party followed and we were booked into the hotel which made things easy, apart from a major hotel fault, we drank them out of real ale!!!

Saturday night she had arranged a big party at a fave pub and about 35 folk attended.

Carole and I hashed yesterday in a lovely area 15 minutes from home, then we had a chance to catch up one events in Rio.
