When at last week's meet, i was chatting to one of our newer members (can't remember who) about Eriba and Erich Bachem.

Now you know the name ERIch BAchem you can find lots of information about him.

Here's something to start you off:- http://www.flyingheritage.com/TemplatePl...px?contentId=15

At the campsite we were having a laugh about the fact that the folding wings on this aircraft use a similar method of locking as the pop top on your Eriba (see red circle on photo). There's one on show at Duxsford, Cambridgeshire.

Here's more about him:-

Shame his successors cannot secure a wardrobe door properly

The Fieseler Storch was at least safe to fly.

Bachem's other famous project, the BA349 'Natter' rocket powered, rocket firing interceptor that was designed to take off vertically, engage enemy bombers and return to the ground by parachute only ever made one manned flight - which the pilot did not survive.

In Bachem's memory, this noble tradition of injuring the vehicle's occupants has been carried on by Hymer in the form of the 'Eriba Kiss'.
