The mesh in the "windows" in the Triton's pop top has rotted - are replacements sourceable? I mean the velcro-attached triangular things covered by zipped flaps in the photo above

Having enquired at AL recently, new replacements appear to be very expensve. It's worth trying Jandi as an alternative. The best option appears to be to make your own, suitable mesh and velcro is available online although I have yet to take the plunge myself having just satisfactorily repaired a rip in mine with nylon thread.

I don't think the standard Eriba mesh vents are Scottish Midgie proof!
I would consider making some from household net curtain material.

I emailed Jean at Jandi, and as usual she was a model of efficiency. The panels would come to a sum total somewhere north of £120 plus VAT! Jean agreed that this price is a bit steep, and reflected the fiddliness of making them. We'll have a go and see how rubbish they look. A metre of mesh and 5m of velcro is about £12 delivered, so that's about 1/10 of the Eriba price

Hi,
I've made some mesh triangles out of curtain netting using the damaged ones as templates. Try and get some quilters tape this is double sided tape which dissolves during washing. Trying to pin velcro onto netting is fiddly and the pins tend to fall out, using the tape ensures that the pins have something more substantial to grip onto.

Having cut your netting to the correct size, edge the whole thing with the tape, peel off the top protective strip and stick the velcro onto the tape, then pin as the adhesion is not great. Sew together, launder so that the tape dissolves and hey presto new mesh triangles.

Good Luck

Denise
P.S. I recycled the velcro from the existing mesh and got the net from a charity shop for 50p the quilters tape I already had total cost £1.00 max

Well, I have already made hubristic cXXX up 1 - bought some mesh from FlyScreen Queen - superblymade, but sadly 16 holes per inch instead of 32 - not midge proof!

these might be easier than pins https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wonderful-Sewin...gs+for+quilting
have found some similar ones useful
or some https://www.amazon.co.uk/Crafters-Compan...sive+for+fabric

, could use bias binding for the seams where Velcro attaches
to make binding use something like this and an iron, (dependant on melting point of netting)

good luck

Thank you P - that looks a bit (quite a big bit!) beyond my technical abilities, but I'll have a go
