What specification on new?

Firstly thanks to everyone who has commented on my other questions, it has helped us to get to this point and specification. However, before the actual order goes in tomorrow I want to make sure the spec makes sense and we have not missed anything obvious off.

So what we have determined so far is:

430 with Gt package and fixed bed
Upgraded chassis to 1200kg
Spare wheel
Sprung mattress for bed with matching fabric
Front cushions with inner springs
Autonomy pack (battery and charger)
30l fitted water tank
External pump
Gas / electric water boiler (We will need gas as we will be using at festivals with no EHU)
3 burner hob
Shower equipment (although realise practicality is limited)
Motor mover

We have also considered the ultra heat but not sure on this one. We thought about the warm air circulation but don't want to take up more room with ducting and the heater looks pretty central, although if anyone has experience on these please let us know.

We would also like a solar panel to keep charged up when not on hook up, so are not sure if to go for a fixed one if the dealer can do it and at the right price or the portable type one but not sure how these would connect up to the battery.

If anyone has any thoughts, please let us know.

EDIT: The dealer also recommended Tyron bands, I've not seen anything on the forum on these but have googled them and their seems to be mixed views on them.

Hi,

Just a couple of observations...

The ultraheat is the only heating I have used with my new van on the cooler days. I like an ehu so if I'm paying for the leccy I shall use the ultraheat first. I plan to use the gas heater in combo with the ultraheat in the depth of winter. Plan being the operative word as I'm new to this and finding my feet as I trundle along. I did specify the wafted heating but I find the noise of the fan (only quite gentle noise though) does annoy me when trying to sleep so I turn it off at night. So I'm not so sure of the worth of that. As for the sprung matresses...I wish I'd specified these as I find the existing 'cushions' to be rock hard! I shall be fitting a memory foam topper PDQ!

Hope this helps. Good luck with everything.

I'd give the 30L fresh water tank some considerable thought. I'm not saying having it is inadvisable of course but having had this tank fitted in our own 430 it's something that we wouldn't do again. Our replacement 542 has 2 x 13L tanks (one in the bathroom and one under the kitchen sink) which having now had experience of the 30L tank we feel is more than adequate for our needs.
The 30L tank is located under the right hand (looking from the front) bug seat and takes up at least one half of the available stowage availability in that area. We don't like using water that has been stored for drinking (tea etc) and have mainly used it for the odd hand wash when it was raining too hard to use the campsite facilities. Others have chosen the roll tank method of storing water so the point I am making is to think carefully about your fresh water requirements and whether you actually need such a large capacity tank.

No mention of a fly screen which I can highly recommend.

All in all sounds good, and whilst the 1200kg axle is a good upgrade for this small van, I think you'll find that with the motor mover/battery and extras your starting weight will be in the region of 950kg - 1000kg so would strongly suggest that upon collection you take the van onto a public weighbridge and get an accurate reading.

The Ultraheat is well worth the extra expense. Because the van is so small the Ultraheat can keep the van warm enough without the gas, only If it is really cold we will give the van a quick 5 minute blast with the gas. Another benefit is that you can have the Ultraheat ticking over very low at night time to keep the chill off, personally I don't feel comfortable leaving the gas fire on when asleep.

Thanks for all your comments so far.

Sounds like the ultraheat is worth the extra relatively small expense to get factory fitted, so that will be going on the list.

The fly screen comes as part of the GT pack and I agree that will be great in summer. With the water tank we haven't really got a choice on that one. To have the water boiler you need to have the water tank despite the room it will take up. However we won't be drinking the water from it and will drink bottled water, the water will just be for washing etc. And for tea as the water will be boiled.

The Truma Therme water heater can be fed from an external water supply (Aquaroll or other). I think the Hymer factory specify internal tank for it but if retrofitted by the dealer you can delete the internal storage.

Deal is done and order has been made. Spec is as the original post but with the Ultraheat option, which we will probably appreciate in the colder months.

Build is due January / February with delivery expected in March.

Thanks again for the comments on this.
