Exe Valley Caravan Park

Just returned from a long weekend at the above site to say farewell to Paul and Kath Harland (the wardens) who will not be returning for the 2017 Season.
There will be I understand a number of changes next year at Exe Valley one of which is that the owner Paul Matthews intends to increase the pitch charges for weekend bookings to the premium rate irrespective of the time of year. If you book in for a weekend next year during the low or mid season periods you will be paying an extra £7.00 a night for a pitch.
Favourite to replace the Harlands' next year is an ex C&CC warden and his good lady who have been interviewed for the vacancy so it will be interesting if or what changes are made to the operation. We always requested a particular pitch and would normally arrive late (after the 8:00pm watershed) on a Friday if booked in for a weekend due to work commitments on that day so perhaps will be looking for alternative parks to stay at next year

I have to say that I wasn't impressed with the site when we visited a couple of years ago although the neighbours were very pleasant, the lady in particular.

I know that some people rave about Exe Valley but I failed to see the attraction. So far as I recall, the sanitary accommodation was sparse (to say the least) and being in the valley, the site got dark and cold very early in the evening.

Putting up the charges without carrying out improvements to the facilities is taking the micky (or something.)

Understand what you are saying Mr Cauldron however to their defence they have recently refurbished the showers sinks and toilets to both facility blocks (soft close toilet seats to boot) as well as the washing up and veg prep areas disabled facilities etc.
The site has recently been graded AA 5 star. Dark is good with a pop-top no light pollution. Cold put another layer on

However I will probably be booking in next year provided I don't get Warden Rash

Oh, what a shame. We stayed there, for the first time, this year, and thought that it was a beautiful spot, with the young river Exe on one side and the lovely mill leat on the other. The wardens were also really helpful, The facilities seemed fine to us.
