The big table.

The large table supplied with our 540 has spent most of its life in our garage. I expect there are more in garages and lofts than in Eribas!
How Hymer came up with the idea of securing it on a bed bench with poppers on webbing is remarkable, especially considering its weight!
In our previous van, a 420, the table stored conveniently in a rack under the bed. Of course this made the bed assembly probably too heavy for the frame but it meant the table was always available and safely stored for travel.
Also it was also the same height as the end cabinet which the current one is not.

So as we sometimes have guests in for a meal the table is really useful. We have looked for alternatives without success and sometimes carried the table in the car but finally I decided to give it some proper attention.
I shortened the legs so it is now the same height as the end cabinet.
Measuring the table and space under the bed suggested that it could fit but it would be better supported on something leaving storage space under it.
A rummage in the garage found a pair of brackets which I fixed to the end bulkhead by bolting through.
The other end rests on the bulkhead at the fridge end and is stopped from sliding forward by a rubber doorstop. Sorted!

Genius engineering, well done.
We looked at a 540 last time we were at Tebay. If we were to get another Eriba (Big if could only see it happening if something disastrous happened to Marmite) this is the model we would go for, and we were not convinced about the table on the bed for transit purposes either.

Mind you the newer 418's don't have the slot for storage that we have in our 2007 version so where do post 2010 418 owners keep their larger table?

The table from our 420 is in the loft along with the chest. Not sure why I'm even keeping it although if we ever part with the van I suppose it would be back to original. The table Neil made from the B&Q kitchen door (thank you to whoever had the idea first) is more than adequate.
