Lidl Induction Hobs - available from Sunday

Just in case anyone is thinking of buying an induction hob to use in their Eriba, Lidl will have them for £29.99 from Sunday 13 November (I think I read that date correctly).

Here's a link: Induction hob

We've been using one of these for more than four years and can thoroughly recommend them.

Please note that not all pans are suitable for use on induction hobs so don't forget to factor in the cost of new ones if your existing pans aren't suitable.

Looks like a good one. 2000 watts max. Normally these hobs when switched on start operating at setting 5 which is 1000watts therefore they can be turned down to 2 or 3 immediately for use on low amperage sites.

They're not compulsory, Derek.

As we always stay on sites with ehu, it makes sense to get maximum value for money by cooking, powering the refrigerator and heating the caravan with electricity. I can't remember the last time I even turned the gas on and now treat it simply as an emergency back up.

One advantage is that with an extension lead or an external socket, they can be used outside or in the awning to cut down on cooking smells in the caravan. Induction hobs are also very quick to heat up and easy to keep clean.

We also have a wotchamacallit and a thingummijig.

Just picked up one of these this morning. Looks to be a very nice bit of kit and a useful addition to the Eriba, not too big and heavy! How do they do it for £29.99?

It certainly works very well, I've only tried heating a pan of water - on 1000w it's very quick, I may get rid of the small electric kettle and use this instead.

On another thread there was discussion of the switch on power setting. When switched on it defaults to 0 watts, pressing the + button cycles up from 200 to 2000 watts so ideal for those low amperage continental sites.

I'm off for a winter week away next week so will give it a good try out then.

To go with our hob which we bought some years ago, we purchased this pan set :- Go Outdoors Large Size Feast Set

More recently and because they are not as hungry as we two, the Frantones bought this smaller sized set :- Go Outdoors Medium Size Feast Set

Both sets are Induction Hob friendly. A great purchase in our opinion.

Luckily, some time ago, I purchased a ceramic, non stick, frying pan from Lidl which is induction friendly so thats 90% of my hob cooking taken care of (Also back in Lidl this week)
I'll have to check the other pans I have in the Puck but I'm pretty sure they are ok, and as Hampshire Man says, there's always the Remoska, for the healthy eating option?

I think I'm right in saying that if the base of the 'pan' (cooking pan that is !) is magnetic, then it's good for 'induction cooking'
