Thanks for all responses - as ever very interesting and thought provoking.

We have friends and relatives coming over the holiday who haven't seen the Eriba yet, so we will keep clean and shiny on the drive to show off her GT go- faster stripes and alloy wheels. The ex-scooter guys on the site will understand why!.

However following the advice in the above posts we will give it a final clean and then put the cover on early in the new year. The cover is a dull dark green breathable one that I'm sure won't be over popular with the immediate neighbours but hey, they won't have to clean it in Spring. Perhaps I'll think about sticking some go-faster stripes on the cover?

I wouldn't worry too much about neighbours

'tis Nobler in the mind to suffer. The Slings and Arrows of outrageous Fortune, Or to take Arms against a Sea of troubles, And by opposing end them: to die, to sleep.

Mind you the caravan cover may well not protect you from the 'slings and arrows' .

Does that answer the question?

It's that time of night and I'm already enjoying the Christmas port
Cheers Ian

I think the main reason for standing the seat cushions upright is to stop any condensation that may run down from getting them wet but air circulation is just as important.

I bring the bedding in but leave things like tea towels in the van without problems, I have a cover but not fitted yet as I can't do it on my own.

But it may well solve "our winter of discontent" especially if we are able to purchase one in a camping shop winter sale. Your know what I mean, "The winter of Discount tents"

Dimplex Chico ... As you say great heater and oil free . Bought mine last month from Screwfix on a really good offer and would also definitely recommend.

Cover. Not only does it keep the bird poo moss etc at bay but when it rains the rain will run down the cover and drip off below the box frame. When it is not covered the water sit under the frame and this is one of the reasons it rusts so badly.
