It had to rain!

I thought you might like to know the tale of a trio of Trolls and one Triton.

I was introduced to camping at a young age when camped as a family with an aunt and uncle in an old borrowed tent and we all were sandwiched in a small car. We spent a few glorious and happy days at Eastgate in County Durham.

This started my love of camping which has stayed with me ever since.

All of my summer holidays have been spent camping.

When we were first married we had a frame tent and this was used until our second child was on the way. We then decided that we needed more room and decided to buy a trailer tent. We had 3 of these and in 1994 decided to spread our wings and camp abroad.

We then had two folding campers in 15 years and continued camping abroad and whilst there we noticed Eribas and decided that if ever we were going to have a tin tent this is what we would have.

We regularly camp with friends- we are a group of 12 couples and over the years there were also lots of children with us and we had fantastic times. Now that the children are grown up they come occasionally but usually when we are in France.

In May 2015 we were camping at the wonderful campsite at Mains Farm near Lazonby (if you haven’t been there do try it) and it rained on the Bank Holiday Monday. I suggested that we visited what was the Airstream Company at Tebay as I knew that they sold Eribas. Another friend came with us.

Less that an hour later we had ordered a new Eriba Troll and our friends also bought a beautiful used Troll. This was not supposed to happen until 2016, and it would not have happened until then had it not rained that day, however we were and still are very pleased.

A few weeks before this my wife’s sister and her husband had bought a Triton.

One of our group of friends had owned 2 caravans during this period. He had bought both of them new but within a short period of time they had suffered from damp. Both were covered under warranty but had to be taken back to the dealer regularly. On visiting our Eribas he was impressed by their build quality and simplicity of design. He has now part exchanged his caravan for a brand new Troll, which he took delivery of a month ago.

When we all get together again the will be four of the twelve units that will be Eribas. This will probably happen again at the wonderful Mains Farm. I wonder whether there will be any more converts if it rains on Bank Holiday Monday?
