Site recommendation and some advice.

Hi,

On my first trip of the season I'm off to a Star Camp at Keilder Forest, a long trip to do in a day from Cornwall, so looking for a site just off the M6 near Stoke on Trent or a few miles further North.

Advice: do you ever use your Eriba connected to your tow car? I wondered whether it is necessary to put the steadies down? I can fore and aft level easily enough as I have an adjustable hitch on my Land Rover but would there be too much stress on the coupling. I have done his once when I needed a really early 5am start and didn't want the hassle of hitching, on my own, in the dark, but I did put the steadies down.

Just wondering 🤔

Steadies are a must use or you could easily over stress not only the coupling but the towbar assembly and even possibly the caravan A frame.

Thanks Hob, I rather suspected this would be the case, I've just bought a nifty 12v rechargeable drill from Lidl so that should be able to get the steadies down and up quickly!

I know it's another 90 minutes from the Stoke but we found this campsite was a good overnighter when we visited Scotland in 2015.

Just 5 minutes off the M6 and as overnighters, they left us to camp in the car park next to the toilet block so we didn't have to unhitch.
