Looking at going to Spain in July, any advice on how to get the best deal for the ferry, I see club Voyage offers 30% discount, so that seems a good deal ?

That does sound good. I know in the past that the Caravan Club didn't offer any discounts on BF.

I have a Club Voyage membership, if you are making one trip to Spain a year it just certainly covers the cost of the membership and you get breakfast vouchers!

For instance, I have booked to go to Spain from Plymouth, middle of July returning end of August. The membership cost me £120 and I saved £280 on the Ferry. However, there is a £100 "registration fee" payable when you first join so it's a bit of a long term investment though, as you can see, you still make a saving! There are two memberships, France or Spain, you only get the maximum discount going to the country of your membership, its reduced for the other. The French membership is cheaper, I suppose because the tickets to France are generally cheaper.

Chris thanks looks like we will be taking it up as well we are planning a France trip in May as well as the July trip so should pay for it self. I was a bit gobsmaked with the price for Santander trip £1200 for two of us with two dogs in July.
Looking at price comparison sites to check if I can get it any cheaper.

They also run a budget boat. We came back on it in July 2015 although it was Santander to Portsmouth and not Plymouth.

Yes a budget boat. No we didn't have to row Just a smaller boat.

Shorts every day of the year for me when indoors and about 9/10 months a year outdoors. I'm wearing mine now. I must admit to having long trousers on though when washing the car earlier.

Going back to what Islay mentioned (and Randa as well, I see), when I booked with Brittany last year (Portsmouth - Le Havre return), I booked through C&CC but they weren't able to offer any discount. Their comment was they (BF) can sell out, so no need to offer any inducements...

You're right about them selling out quickly, especially the Plymouth - Santander route.. we always book before the end of the year for next years summer trip. We've found that it's very easy to change or amend bookings ( if there are any places left ).
