I have a vintage Pan, and looking for an awning / tent. I've been told that Familia is the same size. Is there a universal solution, or do you recommend a custom job?
The Kampa Pop Air is a bit beyond my means, but surely with the inflatables being this year's thing, there must be some used ones for sale? Thank you for the benefit of your experience! Roger

Hello,
Be carefull when buying an non bespoke air awning for you pan. The one non kampa pop option is a "Driveaway" which sounds a good idea. There are two variations available across most makes and that is high or low, so the obvious choice is low, all sounds sensible.
All driveaways have a "tunnel" section, approximately 1 metre long which is the transition section of tenting that fits to your caravan/ motor home and the first tube section. Even if you buy a "low" Driveaway the first tube will be higher than your awning rail. Therefore when it rains all the rain falling on the tunnel section drains to your awning rail and pours into the awning. My advise, for what it's worth, is buy a traditional pan/familia awning, you can generally find one on-line.
There are quite a few eriba sites and of course ebay.

With a 78 van I would think something a bit retro may be an idea.
Have you looked at this?

Hi,

We use a Khyam motordome tourer on our T5 and our 76 Pan. The water does collect, as mentioned above, which is a pain but for one or two nights these awnings are a better option than spending a couple of hours putting up a pole/canvas awning. At least in my humble opinion.

cheers
jezzer
