I need to replace a roof gas strut as one of mine has seized. ( i thought bungeeing it shut to the table rather than working out why all the clips wouldn't clip on would be an ok idea. This has caused the strut to fail) SGS engineering seem to be the people. Has anyone ordered one of these and could tell me what they ordered. I am guessing i want a stainless steel one and i can probably work the measurements out. I am confused as to whether I want a fixed force (how many Newtons?) or adjustable force.

I'm curious here, I don't recall ever seeing a pop top with a gas strut? Do you have a picture?

Have your struts any markings or part no's on them, Marcus?

I used SGS recently for gas struts for a car. Their service was excellent.

I hadn't used them then but last month I got a pair from them for our Galaxy tailgate. They were very efficient dealing with my query and even noticed that I had only ordered one when I should have ordered 2. Delivery was in 48 hours.

Apologies I have been ill. Annoyingly the one I needed to replace was already different to the others. SGS asked me to send the old one in So I have sent that one in. When they have sent the replacement and I have checked all good I will post what was created.

Well this is a saga. The old broken strut was a Hymer one not an original. I sent that one to SGS but annoyingly it was a different length when pulled out. They sent me a copy of that but it was the wrong length and so will not fit. So that was wasted money. I have asked them if they can make it in the dimensions i sent them and they say it is impossible at that length. So I am stuck at the moment. Automotive leisure are saying they can't get them. The original dutch dealer i bought the van from can't help. They don't seem to come up on ebay.

I just replace all 4 on mine I ues sgs. sent them dimensions which I can supply and or order code from them and the preload on mine was 150n. I however do have 1 original which I could sell, sgs charged me 21.75 each +vat
