What is it?

This had occupied our lounge last night, when we returned from the last of 3 family birthday parties over the weekend. Carole said cockroach, I'm not at all sure, having seen many in Saudi. There are several different version of them anyway. Any clues from these 3 shots?

Definitely not a cockroach.. looks like either a cockchafer (Maybug) or a Pill Beetle. difficult to tell without some indication of size

A dung beetle.

It's telling you something, Derek. It's time to get rid of the elephant.

I would say cockchafer, too, but it seems quite early, as they are also known as Maybug or Junebug.

Not cockroach but cockchafer - or May bug or June bug (out early!) Not fierce or dangerous and would probably prefer to be outside bumbling away on its own. (Chris and dogs got there just as I was writing this - we agree anyway!)

Perhaps it was fooled by the warm weather recently, came out early and invaded your house to keep warm (it's bloomin' freezing here). I hope you were nice to it.
